The anti-war "Monday-Demo" in Berlin hasn't ended…..it's now become a weekly peace event in front of the Brandenburg Gate. This is followed by an open discussion group (often with a guest speaker) in the "CUM LAUDE" restaurant (at the West side of the Humboldt University, entrance on Universitätsstraße). Why not come along and see for yourself? Location map 'CUM LAUDE' At a time when there are not as many people on the street as there were in the weeks directly following the outbreak of war it is important for the peace movement to maintain a visible presence. PEACE IS NOT ONLY THE ABSENCE OF WAR; war takes many forms besides military aggression; the attack on people's social rights and the welfare state can also be seen as a social form of war. Aims: On the basis of non-violence and independent of any political party, we stand for:
- Peace and human rights world-wide As part of our collective responsibility for the peaceful coexistence of the peoples of the world in respect and tolerance, we aim to:
- Continue the political discussion and bring it onto "the street" This is our attempt as citizens of the world to try to understand and avoid repeating our historical "social" mistakes as well as providing a colourful and diverse public platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Open Microphone We welcome contributions whether spoken, artistic, musical or simply questions or information about events. The Organisers The Monday Peace Event in Berlin is an open group of interested individuals. The event and the organisers (as a group) do not constitute an organisation and are not affiliated to any organisation or party. The aim is to provide an open and non-dogmatic space where a broad range of people can make their own contribution to the peace movement. -- |
